Extra Small Pyrite Pyramid
Description
Fool's gold, shaped into a pyramid. This little pyrite pyramid is carved from natural pyrite mined in Peru, then cut and polished to show off the mineral's bright, brassy metallic shine. Some faces are smooth and mirror-like, while others reveal raw crystal texture, so you get a look at both the polished stone and the natural mineral underneath.
Pyrite is made of iron and sulfur, and its golden color fooled plenty of prospectors during the gold rush days, earning it the nickname "fool's gold." Its name comes from the Greek word for fire, because pyrite throws sparks when struck against steel. It's surprisingly heavy for its size, which kids (and adults) love to discover the first time they pick one up.
A perfect pocket-sized piece for mineral collectors, science classrooms, or anyone just starting a rock collection.
Size: approx. 1 3/8"
Material: natural pyrite, Peru
Each piece is unique; surface texture and crystal patterns will vary.
